Home of the Horizon League Men's & Women's Basketball Championship and the 11-time Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings, Joe Louis Arena proudly stands along the banks of the Detroit River. The 20,027-seat arena opened its doors in 1979 and replaced the Red Wings' former home of Olympia Stadium. Joe Louis Arena is named after former boxer and heavyweight champion, Joe Louis, who grew up in the Detroit Area.
Since playing at The Joe, the Red Wings have won four Stanley Cup Championships (1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008), and have clinched the Playoffs in 25 consecutive seasons, the longest active streak in North American professional sports.

FIRST HORIZON LEAGUE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT GAME:
March 5, 2016, Green Bay vs. Cleveland State in Game 1 of the Little Caesars Horizon League Men's Basketball Tournament. Last basketball game played prior was the Detroit Shock vs. Sacramento Monarchs in Game 6 of the WNBA Finals on September 9, 2006.
Each day is treated as one session. Doors open 60 minutes prior to the first game of each session. On March 7, the arena will be cleared after the women's championship game and will re-open 60 minutes prior to the men's championship game. The disabled entrance is located on Steve Yzerman Drive, just around the corner from the stairs that face Jefferson. There is a sign that says “handicapped entrance” and is directly across from the Riverfront Executive parking lot. Tickets are available at the box office two hours prior to the event. Individuals must present the actual credit card, a picture ID and the confirmation number. The Will Call window is located at the box office on the street level on the W. Jefferson side of the building. Return To Top

Fans can obtain a wristband while exiting Joe Louis Arena which gains re-entry on that given day. On March 7, the building will be cleared after the women's championship game and on that day only, tickets can be scanned for both the women's and men's championship game. Return To Top

Smoking is prohibited inside Joe Louis Arena. Two designated smoking areas are roped off outside the east and west gates of the arena. You will need your ticket stub for re-admittance. Return To Top
Cameras detachable lenses under 80MM are allowed into Joe Louis Arena on game days. NO video recorders or flash photography is allowed. Cameras with detachable lenses that extend over 80MM are prohibited. Camera policies vary for events such as concerts and other shows.. Return To Top

Lost or Stolen Tickets
With the high value of tickets, we recommend they be treated like cash and kept in a secure place. If, despite your best effort to protect them, your tickets are stolen, replacements will be produced only after an official police report is received by the Joe Louis Arena box office. Return To Top

Winter Hours: (From Labor Day through May) Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.The Box Office is closed the Memorial Day weekend (Saturday-Monday).
Summer Hours: (From June through Labor Day) Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hours are extended (including Saturday and Sunday) for Joe Louis Arena events and games. Tickets for upcoming events at Joe Louis Arena are on sale through the second period of home games at the Box Office window located on the concourse behind Section 101.
